OK, lets start out with "What is Aratta?" Aratta(Hereafter AR) is the European-setting vWorld game. Players of Seventh sea will recognize certain country names and plotlines, but AR is NOT 7S. Ar is D&D. The primary antagonists are undead, orcs, dragons, all the things you're used to. But since it's run by Bitom, it can't be completely normal.
It's more of a swashbuckling theme, with a lot of great characterization by the players. Plots tend to focus on moral choices, and I gleefully place the players into morally ambiguous situations to see what they do. There is combat, but there is also a lot going on politically, and so the game doesn't advance quickly in terms of levels.
If your primary reason to play a game is to levelup your character, this isn't the game for you. If, on the other hand, you want to explore depths of characterization, you may be the right fit.
Another warning: the 5 players I have are among the most obsessive on the site about posting often. If you're not one to post at least once a day, you're going to fall behind and plots probably won't be directed at you, which means less fun for everyone.
Currently the party is in Montaigne, which is essentially France, with some English thrown in. They'll be there for some time, so a Montaigne native is probably what we need, but if you have a really good concept from somewhere else, we might be able to work it in. (Check the AR ooc thread for more details.) My first instinct is to ask for a musketeer, but again, other good concepts will be considered. The character should be noble, or willing to accept that the rest of the party has greater social standing then them. (We have a prince, a Marquis, a lady, and a knight, plus one commoner who has the entire plot pointed at him like an arrow at the moment)
The party at present:
A rogue
A Bard (I know, trog, it's not really a bard, but I wanted to describe it in one word... dammit, why am I explaining, then?)
A swashbuckler
A Combat Mage
A Clerical front-line fighter
Good opportunities for another Front liner, a ranged combat guy (Possibly with guns), or a fully-devoted, bookish wizard.
If you want to play anything with Clerical magic, please contact me first, there is a lot of strangeness going on in the setting with clerical magic.
Monks and Psionics are out.
To further differentiate this from my previous games, I'm taking applications, instead of giving the position to the first person who claims it. PM me a character concept, and if it's awesome, you're in... well, at least you're in if it's more awesome than the others I get.

I would be willing to play a fighter. Could I be Basq like D'artagne?

I've decided to give this position to Mindwright. Thanks everyone who applied, but I gotta choose one.
