Hello --
This seems to be the place for new people to introduce themselves, so ...
I used to play tabletop RPGs pretty regularly, but over the last couple of years, my schedule has been so insanely busy I haven't had the time--but I frequently find I miss playing. I did try joining a group a few years back, but it just didn't work out time-wise. I only recently discovered that this whole world of play-by-post existed, so I thought I would give it a try. In terms of the systems I've played, my favorites are Shadowrun and the Storyteller system. I've found, however, that almost any system, even one with mechanics I find annoying, can be fun with a good GM and players.
Right now, I'm in my last year of grad school (I hope), trying to finish up my dissertation, while also teaching and looking for a job for next year. I'm way too busy with way too many serious things, so I'm joining Brennor's with the hope of adding a little more fun to my life.

Welcome Muskrat!
Most of us here have a similar history as you, played alot of table top but friends moved away or time just conspires to prevent you from getting infront of that battlemap. We have alot of games running, and some things just starting so check out the Forum area and look around, send anyone a Private Message or hop on the IRC Chat during daytime hours (EST) and someone can lend you a hand and point you in the right direction!
I think arkahm you're right, time to get Bren to actually run something!

Thanks for the welcomes. I'll check out the forums to see what's going on.
Sorry, I'm not in psychology--can't help out there. I'm in sociology--I study groups, not individuals. Specifically, I'm doing my dissertation on the anti-sweatshop movement.
I do, however, know someone whose undergraduate thesis was a sociological study of the Star Wars Galaxies MMORG. Sociology is a fun field--if it has to do with people, we probably can find an excuse to study it.

Greetings, fellow non-human invader... I mean welcome, Muskrat!
I'm only a completely normal human maggot filled with inferior human organs.
