New L5R Card Set
Posted by Vardaen on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:25:39) (740 reads)
Seeking to wipe out the Bloodspeakers, Emperor Naseru calls for massive witch hunts throughout the Empire. The Gozoku take advantage of the resulting chaos and fear to undermine the Emperor's power. The Emperor begins to realize that a covert group is working against him, and forms his own secret organization of Scorpion to deal with them. Daigotsu returns to challenge Iuchiban once more. Still unprepared for the power he faces, Daigotsu is beaten back, though he does rescue Shahai from the Bloodspeaker’s grasp. Be prepared for the Wrath of the Emperor!
AEG is putting out a new expansion for the CCG game of L5R. Check out card previews at: http://www.l5r.com/

Review: The Book of Fiends
Posted by Brennor on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:15:33) (486 reads)
GameWyrd reviews The Book of Fiends, which is the 3.5 edition of the Legions of Hell and Armies of the Abyss, along with some new stuff from what was planned to be Hordes of Gehanna.
Demons and Devils for d20.

Review: The Psychic's Handbook
Posted by Brennor on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:15:17) (263 reads)
GameWyrd reviews The Psychic's Handbook, which is another look at psychic abilities in d20. The Psychic is quite a bit different than the standard d20 Psions, in that their abilities are based upon Psychic Skills that may be improved instead of level based 'spells'.

Review: Kult
Posted by Brennor on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:15:02) (240 reads)
GameWyrd reviews Kult: Beyond the Veil. This RPG looks to be very interesting. The basic premise is that our way of life is an illusion, the Creator God is missing, and dreamers have found a way to manipulate our illusion.

Review: InSpectres
Posted by Brennor on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:14:46) (427 reads)
GameWyrd reviews InSpectres, which is very similar in resolution mechanic to octaNe (previous story). The most interesting part about this is that it seems to be based off of the movie "GhostBusters".

Review: Iron Gauntlets
Posted by Brennor on Wednesday, July 14, 2004 (12:12:39) (454 reads)
GameWyrd reviews Iron Gauntlets: Heroic Fantasy Roleplaying, which seems to be a very good RPG to use to introduce new players to the game. Seems to have a nice, simple resolution mechanic, that should be easy for people to pick up.
The most interesting part about it though, is that it specifically mentions playing the game on internet forums or by email.

Review: octaNe
Posted by Brennor on Tuesday, July 13, 2004 (19:05:11) (403 reads)
GameWyrd reviews octaNe, which appears to be more of a group storytelling game (there are still some dice rolls, but they just tell you who gets to describe the action: GM or player).
I'm just mentioning the game here since it encourages players to watch Mad Max III, as well as talking about monkies.
