Connie breaks through the roof with 3000 posts!

Connie_the_Fire_Elemental has finally made her 3000th post, allowing her to choose her own tag line! Getting to that point requires a lot of dedication to the site and participation in a lot of games. She's an asset to every game she's in, and we've been fortunate for all of those 3000 posts.

Let's all give Connie a cheer for her first 3000 posts on the site.

Good work, Connie!

Happy International Frog Day

Yes, it's another one. November 20th in International Frog Day (or at least so says my friend Carol). So let's all give a kiss to our favorite warty friends. You never know when a prince or princess might pop up.

Top Ten Things You Might Not Know About Frogs (excerpted from http://www.conservation.org/FMG/ARTICLES/Pages/fun-frog-facts-for-leap-year.aspx)

1. The world’s largest frog lives up to its name. The Goliath of West Africa grows almost a foot in length, weighs up to 7 pounds, and can easily clear 10 feet in a single hop.

2. Frogs can kill us. The toxin in a single toxic poison dart frog could wipe out 90 humans.

3. Ladies, can’t decide on a guy? A female gray treefrog picks her mate from the pool of water with the fewest predators.

4. The male gladiator frogs of Latin America use spikes on their forearms to mortally wound other competitors during courtship rituals. (Gentlemen, don’t try this at home!)

5. Toads use their eyeballs to help swallow their prey.

6. Certain frogs in deserts “down under” store water in their bladder and pockets of skin. Their “pee” is an important source of hydration for aborigines crossing the arid outback.

7. In California, due to the popularity of “toad licking," it’s illegal to possess Colorado River Toads, which produce a powerful hallucinogen called bufotoxin.

8. Thanks to chemicals that act as an internal “antifreeze,” wood frogs can freeze solid and hop away after thawing out.

9. Call them superfrogs. Southeast Asia’s gliding frogs “hang-glide” from tree to tree using extensive webbing between their toes.

10. Talk about incredible births. The Gastric Brooding Frog from Australia, believed to be extinct, incubates tadpoles inside their tummies until they’re fully developed. Baby frogs then come hopping out of the mouth.

Have a very froggy day!

Happy World Toilet Day!

November 19th is World Toilet Day! So let's all take a moment to give thanks to Thomas Crapper and his most wonderful invention. After all, how many other modern conveniences can you say with certainty that you use just about every day of your life?

And for those who are interested, here's an article on the history of the toilet.

History of the Toilet

I know it's been a while since most of us paid homage to the porcelain god (although those of you who are still in college may have done so much more recently). But let's all do our part today and let the toilets in our life know just how much they mean to us!

arkahm passes his first milestone

Today arkahm passed what we hope will be the first of many milestones on the site - he's made his 100th post. This site requires new blood to keep it fresh. And it's great to have new active players like arkahm contributing so much to our games. Keep up the good work arkahm!

Paradoxa hits 250!

Paradoxa has just hit the next in what we hope will be a long line of member milestones. She's made her 250th post on the site, filling herself up on yellow stars, and getting ready to go for the full set of red ones.

Let's hear it for paradoxa. The site is only as good as it is because people like paradoxa keep the games fun.

And remember what Homer Simpson said, "no one who speaks German could be an evil man." I'm sure that applies to women too. What better praise could be give paradoxa?

Happy Birthday to V!

Well it's gone and happened again. While we were all busy posting to games, Vardaen has turned another year older. And even though he's moved to an age where birthdays and Christmas are more about his son than about him, let's see if we can remind him that he's not over the hill yet.

And since he gives to us every day with his great posts, let's try and give something back. I think he'd be happy with a +2 on all rolls in his games today. It's a perfect gift. He certainly doesn't have it already. And you don't need to wrap it.

Happy Birthday Vman!

Anorin Flies Through 250 Posts

Between playing in a few games and starting a spectacular superhero game on the site. Anorin has quickly reached 250 posts, netting him five yellow stars and an opportunity to start collecting five red stars. Hopefully it won't be long until you're setting your sights on the black stars.

We're lucky to have people like Anorin on the site. And we look forward to many more posts with him as a player and a GM.

Protectors Assemble!

(Okay, we have to work a little on our official exclamation.)

All Hail Our Fearless Leader!

Today Brennor, founder and namesake of our site, topped 7000 posts! True, he's member #1, and has had more time than anyone to make those posts. But even so, 7000 is pretty impressive. Good work, Brennor!

But as much as we love his posts, it's good for us to remember everything else he does for the site. He's the one who maintains it physically, fixes hardware problems, manages software glitches, deals with provider issues, and all the rest, yet still keeps everything running. He's also the one who pays for the bandwidth that lets us keep gaming.

So let's all try and take some time in the next few days to congratulate Brennor on hitting 7000 posts and thank him for all the hard work he does maintaining the site.

Oh yea, and if anyone wants to contribute for the UPS that'll give us even better service, doesn't this seem like a great opportunity to do so?
