Derrick Storm was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned his first Black belt in kung fu under Sensai Michael Shi. He attended UCLA, earning a degree in Communications. He then traveled to china, where he participated in several action movies before famously walking off the set of "The Five Fists Method." For the next 3 years, he was not heard from, made no public appearances, and was occasionally rumored to be dead. In Late 2005, he appeared in Beijing, having apparently entered the city on foot. He was immediatly arrested for having an expired visa, but charges were dropped by the PRC.
Storm returned to LA and went back to work rebuilding a nearly destroyred career. In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live he claimed to have spent nearly 3 years in the mountains of Northern China training under a mysterious martial arts master he called Ko-Han Tsung. This master is widly believed to be a fiction invented by Storm's publicist to explain his disappearance.
